John 3:16 declares God’s love for people in this world, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” yet there is more. Here are a few examples.
He loves those outside His people, the needy and those called foreigners, and takes care of them . . .
Deuteronomy 10:18. “He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing.”
He loves righteousness because He is righteous . . .
Psalm 11:7. “For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face.”
Psalm 33:5. “He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.”
Proverbs 15:9. “The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but he loves him who pursues righteousness.”
He loves justice and will do right for His people . . .
Psalm 37:28. “For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.”
He loves it when we demonstrate our faith in His care by being joyfully generous to others, knowing that He will meet our needs too . . .
2 Corinthians 9:7. “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
God loves Jesus Christ and shows it when He came here in human flesh by granting Him authority and full knowledge of His plans . . .
John 3:35. “The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.”
John 5:20. “For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel.”
God loves sinners and saves them, loving those who love Jesus and put their faith in Him . . .
John 16:27. “ . . . the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.”
Revelation 1:5–6. “. . . To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
GAZE INTO HIS GLORY. The most amazing thing about God’s love is that it extends beyond all barriers. I could ask or wonder that He loves me, but Jesus said in John 15:9 this incredible truth: “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.” In love, He sent Jesus to die for me. In love, He raised His Son from the dead. I am loved like that — hinting that no matter what happens here and now in my life, even the death of me is not the end of me. Because God loves me, I too will rise from the dead and live with Him and with His precious Son forever and ever!
