A few weeks ago, I lent a book to someone. Even though
I’ve inquired about it, the book is still not back on my shelf. There was a
time this would be a bother for me, but this time I’m more concerned about the
person who borrowed it than having my book back. I’m disappointed in her
neglect for her sake, not for mine.
Today, Tozer says much about giving things away. He says
when I give something, it is not mine for the time the other person has it, but
he adds that God is not like that. When He gives life, He remains life for He
Himself is life. It is the same with power and wisdom. He is power and wisdom. When
He gives us that, He loses nothing. When He gives grace, He does not part with
His grace. He keeps it while He gives it — because it is Himself that He gives.
He cannot diminish Himself.
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:22–23)
God’s free gift is Jesus Christ — Himself. Everything He
gives to me is from Him and in Him. Every breath that I take is from Him
because He is life, everlasting life.
Tozer says it this way: “Life is sacred . . . There is a great truth involved here for human
beings — for eternal life can best be described as having God in the soul!”
Today is my birthday. I’m not excited about gifts since I
have no need of anything. God has blessed me abundantly. Perhaps one of the
best gifts is contentment, yet as I read today’s devotional and think about the
truth in Romans 6, the very greatest gift is having Jesus Christ in my heart. I
can rest and rejoice in the love of God knowing that no matter what He gives or
how much He gives, He never runs out.
This applies to me also. When I give anything in the grace
and power of the Holy Spirit, I experience no loss. Just as Christians often
say, we cannot out-give God. His supply never ends.

Jesus, Your grace and love overwhelms me. I’m so thankful
for Your life living in me, for forgiveness of sin, for the abundant life You
promised, for Your power that saves me from sin and corrects me when I need it.
You always have more than I need. You are always enough!
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? . . . No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:31–39)

Happy Birthday Elsie
Thank you. It was a happy day, as was the next day, but I crashed on Monday. I keep saying that normal is only a setting on the dryer - life goes up and down all the time! Anyway, thanks again.
